Frequent Questions

What are your Christian roots?

I was brought up in the Christian Brethren. At the age of 16 I began attending the Baptist Church in Coatbridge, Lanarkshire, Scotland. In 1986 I began attending An Independent Fellowship in Hamilton. I now attend Broxburn Baptist Church, West Lothian.

When did you become a Christian?

Having been brought up in a Christian home I had, from a very young age, a ‘dummy’ in one hand and a Bible in the other.

My parents were deeply involved in The Local Christian Brethren Assembly at Coatbridge. It was in fact our life.

I thought that this was enough….I had the ‘family pedigree …I knew a fair bit about the bible …I was alright! I thought!

In 1974 my parents left the Local assembly….and sadly never got back. As a normal 11 year old I was delighted….all that spare time….it wasn’t until much later that I realised just how much this had cost my parents in more ways than one.

In April 1980 the Evangelist Luis Palau was preaching at a Crusade in Strathclyde in Hamilton.

There was a huge tent…300 voice choir…and a huge amount of excitement in Church circles in the Central Scotland area.

I attended with a fair dose of scepticism! I went every night for 16 nights….with the exception of 1.

As the nights passed, I became very aware that I knew a lot about the Bible and about The Gospel but I had never personally trusted Christ as Saviour. On the 6th of May 1980 I could wait no longer and I went forward and unreservedly committed my all to the Saviour….and was gloriously saved.

What Christian training have you done?

I have done various Distance Learning Modules with what used to be the Bible Training Institute in Glasgow: a large number of Distance Learning Modules with Emmaus Bible School in Liverpool and have Just concluded a part time 2 year course at The Faith Mission Bible College in Edinburgh.

When do you sense the ‘call’ to preach?

Almost immediately after my commitment to Christ, I sensed the Lords hand in this regard. This came as a surprise to many, as I am naturally a shy person who has never sought the ‘limelight’.

I set myself to study the bible thoroughly, to listen to as many Cassette Ministry tapes as possible.

I began building up a library of good, sound Christian books commentaries.

Under the mentorship of Mr Alaister McGibbon I preached for the First time the night before my 18th birthday.

What type of Preaching engagements do you accept?

I am happy to speak at Church Services, Ladies fellowships, Men’s Groups, Evangelistic events, Conference’s  etc.

I am able to preach for any number of weeks in a specific Church in order to teach through a Series. I am also able to speak mid week and also events that are organised to run over a whole weekend.

Your requirements will be given favourable consideration.

What is your Current involvement in your own Church?

When ‘at home’ I play guitar…not brilliantly… in our praise group. When required, I take the Lords Day services and I also participate in Pastoral work alongside our Pastor.

How do We know that your are who you say that you are?

Quite simple, I am more than willing to supply details of individuals from various backgrounds who would be very happy to furnish you with the information you may require. Obviously I am unable to post the personal contact details on this web-site for matters relating to confidentiality.

So…why are you involved in this kind of work?

Because I Love the LORD JESUS and He has placed in my very soul the task of proclaiming His Word as the doors of opportunity open.

Please be assured, there is no desire to build ‘personal ministry’…it’s the LORDS work and my desire is simply to be the vessel the HE can use for HIS Glory.

Are you willing to accept invitations in Central Scotland only?

No! I am prepared to accept invitations through out the United Kingdom and in the Irish Repbulic.

Invitations further afield, i.e Europe, will be considered.

Any other Questions?

Just pick up the Phone or send an Email.

I would count it a privilege to be of assistance to you and your fellowship with regards proclaiming the Unsearchable Riches of Christ.

I look forward to hearing from you in due course.
